Roof sheeting going on.

Hello friends and family,
I will send newer photos of the ENTIRE roof covered in sheeting soon.
The photos here are almost to that point.
We have decided to do solar shingles on South side of roof.
We are becoming more excited each week as this home of ours materializes.

It's going up!

The framing, trusses, and glue lambs are up. They will start soon with wall and roof plywood construction.
It is still very hot (in the 90's). They are a hard working crew. We visit our site daily.

Sub flooring and photo of driveway

The sub flooring is in and the markings for the studs and walls, etc. are completed.
Walls (2x6s) go up mid next week. The main level is nearly 15 ft off the ground...more than we estimated. Better view...let's hope. Nice long driveway for snow plowing.
And, the photo above is Highland Drive
. Our driveway is to the left past the orange recycle bin.

Framing this new house

We have a tent over the house building due to the HOT, hot weather and direct sunshine. It helps.
The basement is HUGE! Anyone want to come live with us? Ha!
Today they are putting in the floor joists and next week the subflooring. Don't I sound like a contractor?! We are pleased with the work and the crew.

Waiting...

Well, we are on hold for now. We expect the pouring of the garage pad and workshop pad by Tuesday. We can put our handprints in the wet cement too. Ha!
We will send pics soon as progress is made. Thanks for joining us.

This is the crew:
Gary, our contractor, Walt, Dave (Caitlin's guy), Frank and Brian.

The "boss" showing her husband where the furniture goes.

The garage is in the front to the left of our courtyard. It will need some fill for a concrete pad.

Facing the right side of house down the hillside. You can see 3-4 defined rectangular forms for the pour. Closest room is our bedroom and then the Great room then a den/bedroom.
This is the front of the house where we will drive up to the courtyard(see the opening).

Kneier House Building

Hope our photos come through okay. Let us know if you can not find them.
All is quiet as it is Sunday and the crew is resting.

Dear all,
We have begun! The foundation was poured Thursday, 07/30/09. It took 59 "yards" of cement and we can define our courtyard and footprint of the house.
Our builder, Gary Dowd and his wife, Cathy, provided a six pack of beer for the celebration of the finishing "pour" at around 2pm.
We went out with our friends, Jeff and Carol on Friday evening for a champagne
"toast" and "christianing" of our new home and beginnings.
I will keep you posted on the erection of our 2000 sq ft house. I will attempt to send photos as soon as I learn how to do it.
Bless every one of you. Wish us well.
Katy and Andy
